Could This Be The Start?

Hmm, woke up in the middle of the night drenched in sweat, I know it wasn’t alcohol related so I hope it was just the massive amounts of roast lamb I ate for dinner, but I have a sneaking suspicion that it wasn’t.  Not sure I like where this is going… surely I’m too young for menopause??!

Anything else I should be on the watch for?

  1. “Women start perimenopause at different ages. You may notice signs of progression toward menopause, such as menstrual irregularity, sometime in your 40s. But some women notice changes as early as their mid-30s. The level of estrogen — the main female hormone — in your body rises and falls unevenly during perimenopause.” Found this on Mayo Clinic page!
Also, caffeine, antidepressants, and heavy hot meal can cause hot flashes!

  2. If you’re near the end of your 40s then you’re definitely in the perimenopause age range. Unfortunately I know all too well about symptoms (my wife has been in this phase for the past 6 years), so am happy to give you any tips if you need them. Night sweats is often how it starts – they’re caused by falling progesterone (it declines before estrogen does). One thing I can promise you is that alcohol doesn’t help – I’ve got enough experience of using it to try and make hormonal situations better!!!

Other things to look out for in the early days:

    – irregular or different (to your usual) periods
    – mood changes
    – muscle cramps
    – itchy skin
    – inability to maintain or control body temperature

I’ll stop there – I know how depressing it sounds. But by being off booze, you’re already giving yourself the best chance of remaining as well as you can during this phase of life. 👌
